First Watch Offshore Solutions Ltd utilises Watchful, an advanced offshore reporting and vessel monitoring platform developed by Quintham Ltd. The system enhances guard vessel operations by providing real-time situational awareness, structured reporting and full transparency for clients managing vulnerable offshore assets.

  • Watchful helps monitor vessel traffic around subsea assets, cable routes and project zones, allowing early identification of approaching traffic and potential risks. The accuracy is unmatched, with integration of both AIS and radar tracking systems, ensuring 100% coverage of vessel movements, even when AIS is unavailable.
    By maximising the technology’s capabilities, Watchful reduces environmental impact, enabling our vessels to cover larger areas without sacrificing quality. Our Active Areas system calculates the closest point of approach (CPA) and time to CPA, offering vessels early warnings and dynamic prioritisation of target vessels in the area.

  • Our vessel location, movements and on-site activity can be remotely monitored by the management team at First Watch Offshore Solutions Ltd. This provides an additional layer of operational assurance, helping verify that guard vessels are positioned correctly, maintaining coverage and carrying out their duties in line with client requirements.

  • The system uses Closest Point of Approach (CPA) and Time to Closest Point of Approach (TCPA) calculations to assess which vessels may present the greatest risk to protected assets.

  • Detailed reports are generated directly within the app, offering a thorough and consistent record of daily activities. Each report is made directly from the source data and formatted consistently and thoroughly from the vessel as a PDF. This is an essential stage of safety, scouting and guard work, as a report produced directly from the ship has a more significant legal authority than shore-made reports. For guard work, every logged vessel is referenced in latitude and longitude, as well as the distance to the nearest exposed asset, which makes it quick for referencing by the Project Team.

    Clients receive clear, accurate reports including vessel activity, communications, incidents, weather, tracks and operational updates.

  • All relevant activity is digitally logged, creating a reliable audit trail and giving shore-based teams complete visibility of offshore operations

  • Watchful supports quicker decision-making when conditions or risks change offshore.

  • The system can also record marine wildlife observations, fishing gear sightings and HSE events, supporting environmental obligations and project compliance requirements. Additionally, our daily reports track fuel, oil usage, and waste output, providing quick access to KPI-based evaluations of each vessel's emissions.
